TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 2003--SmartASIC Technology, Inc., a provider of digital display controller chips, and Premier Microelectronics Development Corp. in Taiwan, a semiconductor component distribution company, announced on April 3rd that they have mutually terminated the merger agreement that they entered into on November 5, 2002. "SmartASIC will continue to be a leading provider in digital display solutions", said Dr. C.C. Kau, President of SmartASIC Technology, "By leveraging our strong technology and experience in TFT LCD monitors market, we will develop new solutions for emerging digital display markets including LCD TV, Plasma TV, Car TV, TV tuner box, and Game Converter Box applications."
